|Urban Seedling is a company whose objective is to make urban vegetable gardening accessible through its backyard-to-table concept. In Montreal-area homes, schools and business sites, Urban Seedling encourages the growing of food by installing urban vegetable gardens and edible landscapes. Urban Seedling also has a Garden Centre located close to Verdun that is dedicated to urban organic vegetable gardening and edible landscaping.|
|The Urban Abundance Solidarity Coop (CAUS) creates abundance for citizens through healthy, local food projects that focus on education and creating strong links between people. Originally founded as a workers’ cooperative in 2013, it now operates as a non-profit solidarity cooperative with consumer, producer and worker members . Projects include the Verdun Farmer’s Markets, backyard farming, aquaponics, composting, herbs and microgreens.|
|Dawson Boys and Girls Club is a non-profit recreational and educational organization that serves 700 members. It offers programs to help moms and tots, children, teens and seniors thrive. With programs including cooking and nutrition workshops, after-school care and seniors activities.|
|SouthWest United Mission has been building food security for Verdun neighbours since it was created nine years ago. Projects include Breakfast Club (feeding over 60 children), Messy Church (a monthly free lunch), and Good Food Family, which serves fresh fruit and vegetables to 300 Verdun families. We offer meat and other staples at low prices in partnership with Commerce Solidaire. We also host cooking classes, Christmas and Boxing Day meals and community and seniors’ lunches.|
